Top 25 Favorite Muppets
The
Muppets, created by Jim Henson in the 1950s, is one of the most beloved group
of characters in American literature. My earliest cinematic memory is seeing The
Muppet Christmas Carol in the theater, and I’ve been a fan ever since. Here
are my top 25 favorite Muppets.
1.
Statler
and Waldorf (The Muppet Show)
The original trolls.
2.
Kermit
the Frog (Sam & Friends)
Classic and timeless.
3.
Gonzo
the Great (The Muppet Show)
So weird and awesome.
4.
Oscar
the Grouch (Sesame Street)
It’s okay to be grouchy sometimes and to
love what others despise.
5.
Bert
and Ernie (Sesame Street)
These friends show you divergent
personalities can still have a loving (and platonic) relationship.
6.
Sam
Eagle (The Muppet Show)
Merica. Heck, yeah.
7.
Rowlf
the Dog (The Muppet Show)
Probably the most underrated Muppet.
Lovable and loyal, like a dog should be.
8.
Miss
Piggy (The Muppet Show)
The ultimate showstopper.
9.
Grover
(Sesame Street)
Lovable and furry. Yep, that’s Grover
alright.
10.
Fozzie
Bear (The Muppet Show)
He tries so hard to be deliberately funny
but is only funny when he doesn’t.
11.
Cookie
Monster (Sesame Street)
Not gonna lie. Cookies are great.
12.
Deet
(The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance)
Sweet, loveable, but also fierce and
fearless
13.
Count
von Count (Sesame Street)
We all have an obsession.
14.
Lefty
the Salesman (Sesame Street)
Who knew Sesame Street had a black market?
15.
Sherlock
Hemlock and Watson (Sesame Street)
Not the world’s greatest detective, but a
great pair. They remind me a lot of Wallace and Gromit.
16.
skekTek
(The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance)
Evil genius and is more interesting than
just evil.
17.
Hup
(The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance)
Everyone needs someone like Hup to watch
their back.
18.
Mr.
Johnson (Sesame Street)
The Muppet my heart goes out to most. He
just wants his soup in a normal fashion.
19.
Wilkins
and Wontkins (Wilkins Coffee Commercials)
If you’ve never seen this hilarious duo,
check them out on YouTube.
20.
Dr. Benson Honeydew and Beaker (The Muppet Show)
Poor beaker. He just can’t catch a break.
21.
The
Newsman (The Muppet Show)
I love the 70s aesthetic on this guy.
22.
Big
Bird (Sesame Street)
He’s got just the right amount of
innocence.
23.
Guy
Smiley (Sesame Street)
Big, loud, and always gets caught in the
curtain.
24.
Elmo
(Sesame Street)
A little annoying but hard not to love.
25.
Prairie
Dawn (Sesame Street)
I love how she always seems fluster by the
stupidity of those around her.
Honorable
Mention: Captain Link Heartthrob, Dr. Teeth, The Swedish Chef, Telly Monster,
and Rizzo the Rat
