It is only one week until the Academy Award nominations are announced. As the
golden man approaches his 100th anniversary, the Oscars continued to be less and less relevant. I started reviewing movies a decade ago, and 2013 was the last year I remember being really excited about the ceremony. 12 Years a Slave and Gravity were the two juggernauts heading into the awards season, and both were amazing (my #4 and #1 of the year). I used to be able to recite every Best Picture winner by heart, but I honestly could not tell you the last five champions. Green Book and that weird fish movie are in there somewhere.
Nevertheless, there were so truly great films this year,
and I loved all the Barbenheimer nonsense this summer. Here are my picks if I was a voting member of the
